I'm Thomas and this is my wiki
November 3, 2008
I know a little bit about computers. I am not a computer "wiz" but, I know a couple things. I like word and I am good at slide shows. I want to learn more about makeing websites. I am good at PC games. I think I am going to like tech class this year. Computers are awesome!
After The Quarter
I thought the class was awesome! We learned so much. Now I know a lot about computers and websites. I need to learn a little more though before I am a computer master. The first thing we did was learn the differences and order of the different bites. Then we did the greeting card assignment which really made me appreciate how much neater the computer was. Then we did our website reviews. My favorite thing this year was making our own html. I dont know what I want to do next year.

Greeting card assignment
I made my hand made card using some markers a piece of paper and thats about it. I made it by folding a small piece of paper in half and writing what I had to write on it. I thought it was REALLY easy I did not encounter any problems.
I created my computer version of the card by writing the same things as my old card only neater. I also used lots of things like clip art and word art. The programs I used for my computer card was of course Microsoft Publisher and well suprisingly thats it not including word and clip art. I thought it was pretty easy though at some places it was kind of hard. I did not encounter any major problem.
When I compare the two there are some pros and cons. The hand writin card is easy to make it is also quick to make but, it is sloppy and can not be emailed. The computer card
is not sloppy and you can email it but, it is harder to make it also takes much longer. The computer card took longer than the hand writin by far. I think because you had to do all of the technical stuff and we only have so much time in computer class. My preffered method is the computer way because I like the computer its less sloppy and it is much cooler.

www.googlearth.com
The website I am doing my review on is googlearth the detailed URL is http://earth.google.com/ you have to download the actual satellite imager but the webpage is something you don't have to download. It is owned and created by Google. The age range is all ages but I'll say 7 to 70 years old people out of this age group would find this site confusing because under 7 is to young and over 70 is to old. Parents do not have to know anything before they let their kids on this website it is all appropriate. You do not have to register or pay anything.
The site is well organized it is easy to navigate and it is not cluttered at all. There are no real glitches and the site is not a work of art but it is definatly not sloppy. It is not very hard to figure out the purpose of this website. It is simply a free web page that allows you to look at satelite images of natural wonders and everything else in the world. Its primary purpose is education. For me it is clear what to click to find information.
I dont know if this site is one of a kind, but I have never found anything close to it which makes it unique. The content of the site of does match its purpose. You can see where things are at in the world and you can see them like you are flying over whatever you are looking at. The content is easily readable for me but for someone in 3rd grade it would be harder. There are no ads and no drawbacks on the site The content is understandible except a couple big words. Some of the highlights would obviously be the page where you actually view the world that page is fantastic.
The page does use proper grammar and there are no grammer or punctuation errors ( I hope there are no errors its owned by a multi-billion dolar company!) It does not say much on the page but what it does say it lives up to. They provide good information about what the website is about and how to use the tools to get to someplace on the website. There is no website that does a better job because there are few if any other websites that do the same job. I have a screenshot of the home page below.
