Weekly Log

11/18/09 - Worked on new projects.  Here are requirements:

For those who are making audio books:

1)      Make sure you follow the script.  Include your name, the book title and author, and any instructions for marking page turns.

2)      Make sure you read the book slowly and carefully, with expression.  Before you export your file, have another classmate listen to it and give you feedback as to whether it is clear enough, the speed is right, etc.

3)      You may experiment with adding background music if you want, AFTER the book text is recorded properly.

4)      When you are finished and have put in your best effort, export the file as an MP3 or WAV file.  Name the file with the title of the book.  Example:  Little_Red_Riding_Hood.  Place a copy in the “Completed Homework” folder on the Z drive.

5)      If you finish early, try recording  another book!

For those who are doing a broadcast with a review (book, movie, game, etc.):

1)      Make sure you follow the script.  Include your name, all the necessary information for your review (title, rating, stars/author, etc.), and the date of your recording.

2)      If you worked with a partner, make sure you each shared roles for writing, speaking, editing, etc.

3)      Have a classmate listen to your broadcast before you export it and give you feedback:  could they understand all your sentences?  Were you speaking at an appropriate speed and volume level?  Did they follow your summary and reasons for why you did/didn’t like the book/movie/item?  Was the review meaningful and in-depth enough?  Was it interesting?

4)      You may experiment with adding music if you have time at the end.

5)      When you are finished and have put in your best effort, export the file as an MP3 and give it a name that reflects your broadcast topic.  Example:  Twilight_Review.  Place a copy in the “Completed Homework” folder on the Z drive.

For those who are doing a screencast:

1)      Make sure you follow a script.  Include your name, programs (including versions) used, and whether you are on a PC or Mac.  Outline your steps before you record.

2)      Be sure you describe all the settings and steps needed to perform the task.  You might need to throw in some explanations as to why you are doing certain steps at certain times.  Make sure that it is detailed enough so that someone could actually do your task after watching your video.

3)      Don’t forget to explain how to save the file or export it, if this is relevant.

4)      Be sure to have a classmate view your video and give you feedback.  Could they understand your steps and do the task?  Was anything confusing?  Re-record if necessary.

5)      Save your file as either an AVI or Flash video and make sure it can be played back on our lab computers.  Give it a name based on the program used.  Example:  Illustrator_Tutorial.  Place a copy in the “Completed Homework” folder on the Z drive.

11/11/09 - Planned our second project.  They include creating audiobooks for 1st & 2nd graders, creating audio broadcasts of book or movie reviews, and creating more "how-to" screencasts.

11/4/09 - Free time for those who finished missions.

10/28/09 - Last day to work on missions.  Ben & Jake presented.

10/21/09 - Everyone worked on making videos of their missions.

10/14/09 - Mo and Kanan presented their missions.

10/7/09 - Clare and Grace presented their missions.

9/30/09 - We worked for 15 minutes on our missions, then had our first presentation.  Madison and Tristan presented their missions of how to make a screen cast using Cam Studio and how to upload the screen cast video to a wiki page.  We then completed worksheets that reviewed this mission presentation.

9/23/09 - We continued working on our missions.

9/16/09 - We received our "How-To" mission assignments and teams.  Each team will figure out two missions, completing a mission log.  Then we will present our missions to the class.  Finally, we will create videos of our missions to post on our website and wiki.

9/9/09 - First class.  We went over class procedures and talked about what we were going to do this year in computer class.  There will be lots of fun projects squeezed into very little time.  View the PowerPoint
